Are you ready for take off?

Holiday season is well and truly upon us, so the question is - how to celebs always look so camera ready when coming off long-haul flights? Obviously flying first class rather than wrestling with Ryan Air helps, but what can us mere mortals do to have the hair of an A-List jetsetter without the private plane? Team RD have a few suggestions to help get you ready for take off.

Just as flying can wreak havoc on your skin, it can also have a negative impact on your tresses. As plans rely on air being constantly circulated this can have a drying affect on your hair, throw moisture-sapping high altitudes and nylon seat covers into the mix and you can end up with locks that are dry, frizzy and full of flyaways.

To help avoid this, we recommend washing your hair the night before you travel and braiding it while it's still damp. Apply a small amount of Paul Mitchell The Cream styling conditioner while still damp for added moisture and control. Travel with your hair in a braid to keep it out of the way, then when you reach your destination gently shake out the plait, raking through with your finger tips for instant beachy waves.

As any beauty editor will tell you, your in-flight mantra should be hydration, hydration, hydration - and this doesn't mean hitting the gin! Water makes up 1/4 of the weight of a strand of hair, so remember to keep yourself well hydrated with water throughout the flight. For added moisture, keep a mini bottle of hair oil in your hand luggage to provide a nourishing boost and tame flyaways. We love Moroccanoil Treatment, packed full of Argan Oil and can either be decanted into a smaller bottle or is also available in a carry-on friendly size.

For a quick and easy freshen up before you hit the tarmac, dry shampoo is your go-to for instant freshness and a much needed volume boost for travel weary locks. Simply spray into the root area in sections, leave for a few minutes and brush through.

We love the award winning Paul Mitchell Dry Wash, which also comes in a handy carry-on size.
