Salon Review - RD Lancashire with What Emma Did
We love collaborating with local bloggers, and were thrilled when What Emma Did agreed to get social with us recently! Read about her experience below.
"If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen I’ve been doing a lot more hair focused posts than usual. Mainly because right now, I’m pretty much in love with my hair, and its very rare you’ll hear me say that!
I’ve been blonde pretty much all my life, with the occasional period of dying it brown (to watch it go gingery as my hair is so light) or a dark blonde, which I look back at now and think why did I stay so dull?
It’s mainly been over the past few years where I have really embraced being a brighter, bolder blonde, and I don’t see this changing any time soon!"
"The last few hair appointments I’ve had have seen me opt for a combination of highlights, usually a bleach, a cool blonde and a warm tint. So I usually have a mixture of a crisp, clean blonde entwined with warmer, caramel blondes.
Anyway, the week before I went on holiday, I tried out somewhere new to me – Reilly Denholm in Leigh. I was booked in with Rachael, who gave me a thorough consultation, in which I said I wanted to go a little brighter, with a more cleaner, ashier blonde.
I stressed that my roots annoy me and the upkeep is hard, in which she suggested a soft, warmer balayage on the root, and then a range of blonde shades through my length. I even decided to have some of my underneath done, which has been my natural colour for years now.
Rachael took some before photos of my hair, before mixing the colours and getting ready to work her magic!"
!As you can see from the photos above, my blonde had started to go a little brassy, even though I try to use a purple toning shampoo a couple of times a week. It was faded and dull, and in a major need of brightening and lightening!
So, after Rachael worked on creating a soft balayage root to break up my roots, and worked all the blonde shades through my length, she finished with a toner, and then a nice 2 inch choppy cut to give the illusion of thicker ends.
And ta-da! Here’s the final result:"
"I absolutely love both the colour and cut, and can’t thank Rachael enough for her super skills! She was friendly and attentive, and very professional at the job.
Reilly Denholm are based in Leigh, so if you’re around that side of Manchester, or don’t mind having a little bit of a travel, it’s a lovely friendly salon. Rachael is on the ball with hair trends, but also works to create looks which suit you and work with what you currently have/don’t have, giving honest advice.
I’m in love with my sassy new blonde do, and can’t stop sharing it on Insta!"
